Selling your soul
has never been so charming and Mark throws in a little something to sweeten
the pot, his girlfriend Naomi.
Sentenced to death at the hands of a demon, Naomi Hawk has a firsthand lesson in despair and betrayal in Mark’s deal for fame with all the trimmings. Deep in the clutches of the underground brotherhood, Naomi's light is coveted for the Master's gain. When she slips and falls eighty stories from a precarious ledge, Naomi resigns herself to the inevitable impact and death by shattered bones. Before she can escape her demons in eternal slumber, something sinister plucks her from the plummet, stealing her out of the night to sacrifice her forever to the shadows. Imprisoned in bottomless darkness, Naomi thirsts for justice…and revenge. |
When I first saw this
book in Netgalley, I am not going to lie, the cover got me and I requested the
book right away. The look on the girl’s
face (Naomi) caught my attention from first glace. Unfortunately, that’s as far as my love could
go for this book.
Naomi, the main
character is betrayed by her boyfriend, Mark.
He actually sold her out to Lucifer because she wouldn’t sleep with
him. Yeah, a real prince charming,
huh? Luckily for her, a shapeshifter vampire
named Damian wants her too and as she is falling to her death, he swoops her up
and takes her away. Unfortunately for
Naomi, Damian wants to kill her too.
Yeah, she is one lucky girl. So
what does she do to fight back, she bites Damian on the neck! Well, little did she know that that is the
way to turn into a vampire! So now, here
she is, in front of this shapeshifter vampire, who by the way is in shock
because, well, she bit him. Soon she
finds out that Damian is seeking revenge on Lucifer because he took the love of
his life some two thousand years ago. Now, together they will have to come up with a
plan to take out Lucifer before he finds out that Naomi is still alive and a
vampire at that.
I REALLY wanted to like
Night Hawk, but unfortunately, it just wasn’t my cup of tea. There were times while
reading where I had to flip back and reread the last few paragraphs because I didn’t
understand what was going on. The story didn’t
flow. It just felt like I was thrown
into this story without any background information. Maybe it was lack of the world building? Now don’t let my review discourage you. Everyone has different likes and
dislikes. I went onto Goodreads and saw
many 5 point reviews. Give Night Hawk
and try and you never know, you might actually be the next person that gives it
a 5 star review.
