After the 1st wave, only darkness remains. After the 2nd, only the lucky escape. And after the 3rd, only the unlucky survive. After the 4th wave, only one rule applies: trust no one. Now, it’s the dawn of the 5th wave, and on a lonely stretch of highway, Cassie runs from Them. The beings who only look human, who roam the countryside killing anyone they see. Who have scattered Earth’s last survivors. To stay alone is to stay alive, Cassie believes, until she meets Evan Walker. Beguiling and mysterious, Evan Walker may be Cassie’s only hope for rescuing her brother—or even saving herself. But Cassie must choose: between trust and despair, between defiance and surrender, between life and death. To give up or to get up.
If I were
to pick one word to describe this book it would have to be
"outstanding!" The 5th Wave will grab your attention from the very
start. The way the story takes form and develops right before you is
incredible. From start to finish you'll be on edge the entire time.
Cassie and her brother Sam have survived the four waves together. Until the day that they get separated, Cassie made a promise to get Sam and she will do everything in her power to find him. Sam is waiting for Cassie, but during that time he is alone and scared. He starts seeing the world in a whole new light without Cassie as his protector. Evan Walker is hiding something and Cassie knows it, but Evan might also be the only chance that Cassie has to get Sam back.
This review is going to be rather short because I don't want to write anything that will spoil it for you. This has to be one of, if not the best book I've read this year. So many twist and turns and secrets at every corner and one bad-a** lead character. Yancey's writing style is one of a kind and I seriously can't recommend this book enough.
Loved this book as well!
