When a knee injury ends twenty-year-old Quinn Rowland’s pro tennis career, he’s not only dumped by his hot Russian girlfriend but ordered to attend college by his disinterested billionaire father. A rich kid who’s not used to being disappointed by life, Quinn and his sociopathic half-brother Sebastian create a frat house game intended to treat girls how they see them—as simple game pieces to be manipulated for their pleasure.

College sophomore Emilie Swanson knows Quinn’s reputation—after all, he did send one of her sorority sisters into therapy earlier in the semester—but the game and his charm bring them closer together and soon she starts to believe there’s more to Quinn than people think.

But what if the more is something darker than a game of toying with emotions and breaking hearts?

Quinn and Emilie might be falling for each other, but there are secrets he’s not ready to tell—and lifestyle changes he’s reluctant to make. She willingly stepped on the court, but if Emilie finds out she started out as nothing as a pawn in Quinn and Sebastian’s twisted game, she might never forgive him.

To his surprise, Quinn finds that he might finally care about someone more than he cares about himself…even if that means letting Emilie walk away for good.

Lyla Payne captures what it is to be in love, yet get pushed away every single time. Emilie goes through so much and somehow she keeps going after what her heart desires. My heart literally aches for her. I'm glad I decided to pick up this book and give it a try. I got to discover a whole new set of characters that I instantly feel in love with.

Quinn Rowland pro-tennis career is over after a knee injury. What more is there to do then go to college, drink the pain of the memories away and play a twisted game with his half brother Sebastian? Rules of the game are simple: pick a girl, make her fall in love with you and two weeks later, crush her heart. But when Emilie Swanson gets picked to be Quinn's latest target, things don't necessarily go as planned. Emilie feels this immediate connection to Quinn, but she doesn't easily fall like all the others. She knows his reputation, yet she sees under his facade. Games are meant to be played, but will you risk your heart to put it on line?

Emilie is by far one of the strongest characters I've read. Many people might see her as a very weak character because she keeps going after a guy that treats their relationship like nothing. I honestly have so much respect for Emilie because having the love of your life throw such hateful words at you and act like he doesn't feel anything for you would break my heart a thousand times. I love the way Payne developed their relationship. Quinn might push and push, but Emilie fights back just as hard. I'm excited to see what Payne has in store with this series. We got to meet quite a few characters and with the way things are at Whitman University, I wouldn't mind getting to go there.
