This week we are
talking about the Top Ten
Books I Was "Forced" to Read. This is an interesting question
because as a book lover you are usually open to anything and everything. Of
course there are those few books that may not appeal to you, but when a friend
is nagging at you that you HAVE to read it. Well you must give in just to see
what the hype is about. Here are our picks!
The
Best:
1.
Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout
A good friend of mine named Doris could not stop talking
about this book. She was so crazy about it that she even bought it for me and
had it shipped to my house. Just for the simple fact that I HAD to read it. I
am eternally in debt to her. Without her I would have never meet Daemon♥
Andy
2. Dash & Lily's
Book of Dares by Rachel Cohen & David Levithan
It was right around Christmas time that I went on my Goodreads
page to ask for a fun quick read. The very first thing that showed up was Dash
& Lily. Words can't express how much I love this book. The fact that I was
actually reading the book during the dates it was set was a bit surreal. :)
Andy
3. Dark Lover by J.R
Ward

A former co-worker of
mine, Janet, was raving about this awesomely fantastic new adult vampire
series, The Black Dagger Brotherhood series. All day long I had to read
about how hot these vampires were, so I decided to take the chance and read the
first book. O.M.G! I instantly fell in love with the brothers and
their world. I had never read any "adult" books before BDB, so
you can say that thanks to J.R. Ward and Janet, I am hooked on them now!

4.Twilight by Stephenie Meyer

When I was younger I
used to love to read and had the best collection of the Babysitter Club books
ever. Then high school came around and my focus was on the opposite sex and not
so much books anymore. It wasn't until years down the road
(yeah, I am old LOL), after I was already married and had my son, that I
started reading again. My friend Jenny, begged me to start reading
Twilight. I was a little skeptical because
I wasn't into vampires or werewolves. Plus she had already read
the series 3 times, so I told myself that it had to be good then. It was
because of Twilight that I fell in love with reading again and discovered the
blogging world. You see, Jenny was helping her cousin Yara, review books
for her site, Once Upon a Twilight and since I was in love with Twilight, Yara
brought me in and introduced me to blogging. I owe this little series a lot.
Ana
5. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
This is THE book that started my obsession. My love for this story is inexplicable. Again, I have to give thanks to my good friends for this recommendation.

The
Worst:
9. Tantalize by Cynthia Leitich Smith
I struggled so much with this book. It got a lot of mixed
reviews and in the end it was one big fat let down for me.
Andy
10. Spring Training by Parker Kincade
What can I say about this book? I had such a hard time getting into it this book and connecting with the characters.
Daisel
What about you guys? Anything that you've been forced to read
that you weren't crazy about, but actually found yourself enjoying it a lot
more than you thought?
Don't forget that we are giving away a signed ARC of Wild Cards by Simone Elkeles!

I thought Dash and Lily's Book of Dares was a really cute read :-) Great list!
ReplyDeleteThanks! :)

This is a really great list! I love Dash & Lily's Book of Dares! So cute! Also I love your blog design, so adorable!
ReplyDeleteAwww thank you! :D
DeleteAndy @ Owl Always Be Reading
I love Anna and The French Kiss, whatever friend recommended it, is a friend with really good taste :) I wasn't forced to read the Illiad in School but a condensed version of the Odyssey. So even though that was bad enough, it could've been worse.
ReplyDeleteGreat list! Thanks for stopping by :)
Aly @ My Heart Hearts Books
Ooooh, didn't even think to separate them into best and worst! Nice picks, I have BDB on my list as well! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy reading!
You never know what you can come up with when you separate them! ;)
DeleteAndy @ Owl Always Be Reading
Great list! I was also forced to read Iliad, but I'm not really sure how I feel about it! Also, i am feeling forced to read the hunger games (which I haven't read yet!!!), but I really hope I like it!
ReplyDeleteI highly recommend reading THG! It's one of those stories that stays with you for a long time. :)
DeleteAndy @ Owl Always Be Reading
I ALMOST put TWILIGHT on my list, too, because I had a similar experience with it. A girl in my book club was so excited to tell us about the teenage vampire romance novel her cousin had written and we all thought it sounded way too weird. Guess what? I loved it. Not so much the sequels, though ...
ReplyDeleteHappy TTT!
I love so many of your picks: Twilight, Dash & Lily, Hunger Games, Anna & the French Kiss! Lovely list!

I like how you did a best & worst... Please check out my TTT | Jorie’s Read’s by Starry Night Elf .
ReplyDeleteDid you know they're making Dash & Lily into a movie?! I read that book awhile ago and remember liking it.
ReplyDeleteNo way! Are they really?! That's awesome news! It's one of my favorites. ^_^
DeleteAndy @ Owl Always Be Reading
Really love your TTT this week some great reads! Here's my TTT http://thoughtsofalibrarian.blogspot.co.uk/2013/10/top-ten-tuesday-books-i-was-forced.html
ReplyDeleteI still need to read Dash & Lily's! I've only heard great things about it!
ReplyDeleteGreat list!
Thanks for stopping by Take Me Away...
You saw that I had The Hunger Games on my list, too. Like you I resisted reading it for so long but then quickly read the other two. So, so worth it!
ReplyDeleteI still need to read Anna and the French kiss and I am still planning to D: I should totally look for a way to buy this book sometime D: Book buying ban D:
ReplyDeleteAnd also, I am really wanting to read Dash and Lily's, I have heard so many good and positive things about this book :3
Seems like nobody picked The Hunger Games on their own. It looks like a never-ending circle of recommendation. A friend to a friend and so on. I read it because of the whole hype surrounding it...and because I liked the movie. I watched it for the first time about 9 months after it came out into the cinemas. Yes, I'm really fast :p
ReplyDeleteDefinitely agree with your numbers #2, #3, and #8! All some of my favorite books, especially Anna and the French Kiss. It doesn't get much cuter than that, does it?
ReplyDeleteThe Hunger Games is one of my all time favourite books, such a great read. I really enjoyed Anna and the French Kiss as well. I've recently been recommended Obsidian so I am hoping to find that soon. My TTT
ReplyDeleteOh I love the Black Dagger Brotherhood too! I was a bit bullied into reading the first one too and I was only really hooked from book three onwards. (Sigh... Zsadist...)
ReplyDeleteNice List!
Great list! Good call on Anna and the French Kiss.. I don't think I was necessarily forced to it, but there was a lot of love for this book that i felt compelled to read it too.. Thanks for stopping by my TTT! :)
ReplyDeleteMichele
I was also 'bullied' into reading Darkfever by a friend! I couldn't get the sequels fast enough - soooo good! :D I've also read the first 7 or so books of the Black Dagger Brotherhood, I usually borrow them from a friend after she gets them. I didn't love all of them and there are some issues I feel iffy about, but in general I really like the series :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't read Dash & Lily yet! Maybe I'll make it in time for this year's christmas season ;)
Thanks for sharing & stopping by!
