This week we are talking about the Top Ten Character Names I Love or Top Ten Unusual Character Names. Names can either make or brake character. If the name doesn't fit than the whole book might be off. Let's see who made the cut!
Andy's Picks
1. Anna and The French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins
Étienne St. Clair - I honestly couldn't have come up with a better name! That name literally draws you in. I have no idea where Perkins drew this name up, but I thank her a thousand times for creating this marvelous character.
2. The Distance Between Us by Kasie West
Caymen Meyers - Words can't even describe how much I loved reading this story. It was the perfect summer read, yet that wasn't her name (like if I wrote the story lol)! I just couldn't connect that name with this amazing character.
Ana's Picks

3. The Black Dagger Brotherhood Brothers by J.R Ward
Wrath, Rhage, Zsadist, Phury, Vishous, Tohrment - These are my favorite names of some of the vampires from The Black Dagger Brotherhood series from J.R. Ward. Their names perfectly match their personalities and boy are they HOTT!!
4. Divergent by Veronica Roth
Tris (Beatrice), Four (Tobias) - Four, oh Four, you are one of my all time favorite book boyfriends. Plus, Divergent is one of my top favorite Dystopian books.
5. Under The Never Sky by Veronica Rossi
Peregrine "Perry" - Since I read this book his name has been stuck with me. For some reason I find it attractive and it just goes with his personality. This would fall under "unusual names".
Karou - This is one of my all time favorites! I am not even sure of the pronunciation of it but it is so cool and uncommon. All the names on this book are unique same as the characters.
Juliette Ferrars - I absolutely loved her name. I am pretty sure that whenever I have a daughter I am going to name her Juliette! This name for me is so delicate.
Katering's Picks

8. Daughter of Smoke & Bone by Laini Taylor
Kazimir - This name is just amazingly weird, yet that is exactly what I love about it. Mrs. Taylor created a wonderful world with names we aren't use to seeing much less actually being able to pronounce!
What about you guys? Any unusual names caught your attention lately?

8. Daughter of Smoke & Bone by Laini Taylor

9. Venom by Fiona Paul
Falco - Is one heck of a sexy name for a guy and Falco in Venom is no exception. Hot + troublemaker = Falco. ;)
10. No Safety in Numbers
Lexi - Is a name I just adore.

I definitely love the Divergent series character names... unique but not too odd.
ReplyDeleteÉtienne St. Clair is name perfection! Stephanie Perkins nailed it with this one. And I do love the black dagger brotherhood. The names are a unique spin on their characters and fit them completely. Though I have to admit I am partial to the names Blay and Quinn for more realistic names.
ReplyDeleteWow some great picks here! Lexi is a beautiful name :)
ReplyDeleteChanzie @ Mean Who You Are.

I actually enjoyed BDB series but I found the names so very stupid, haha, laughed my ass off for like 2 books, then shook it in despair. I do kinda like Blaylock and Qhuinn, but these stupid 'h's everywhere make me pissy. XD
ReplyDeleteLovely list though :D
Etienne is a brilliant name - it's nice that Stephanie Perkins went with a unique French name (at least to our ears-maybe it's really popular in France). Oh and I love the name Tobias too :) Great list!
ReplyDeleteEtienne is the perfect name for him. I can't wait for the release of Isla, so we will get to see Anna and Etienne and Cricket and Lola again. I loved Four as well and almost included him on my list.

ReplyDeleteYou've got a great list of names. I think Tris is a great nickname for Beatrice.
ReplyDeleteBeatrice/Tris is a favourite name for me, too- I loved Beatrice thanks to Lemony Snicket, but I really like the sound of Tris, too; unfortunately Insurgent was a huge let down for me, so hopefully that doesn't taint my feelings over the name!
ReplyDeleteThese are some really great picks! I liked so many of the names in DoSB also, and I totally forgot about Peregrine! Thanks for stopping by, new follower :-)
ReplyDeleteVyki @ On The Shelf
