This week we are talking about the Top Five Covers I Wish I Could Redesign / Top Five Covers I Wish They Would Have Left Alone. Yes, we decided to add a twist to it since once we started looking at most of our books we noticed that a lot of them have new covers already. Some times those covers turn out awesome, yet the first one was why we fell in love with the book in the first place. Here are our picks! :)

Andy's Picks

1. Nightshade
by Andrea Cremer
The whole reason I started reading this series was because of
that incredible cover, just look at it! I really wish they would have continued
with this theme.
2. Anna and The
French Kiss
Yeah I know I'm cheating when it comes to this one, but just go
with me. To date this is still one of my favorite contemporary reads. Be honest
though when you read that title than saw the cover you automatically thought
"What a cheese feast!” I couldn't have been more wrong. That's I'm glad
they decided to redo the cover.
Ana's Picks

3. Delirium by
Lauren Oliver
I am sooooooo glad they changed the cover.
It's so boring and not appealing at all. The new one is perfect, I
absolutely love it!
4. Crewel by Gennifer Albin
What can I say about this one, well, I honestly like the older one.
It might be that I got used to it and now that they have redone the first
book to go along with the second, it just looks "weird" to me
Doris' Picks

5. Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi
I love the Shatter Me series and Tahereh to pieces but when they
redesigned the covers I was a bit disappointed. Don't get me wrong, the eye is
beautiful, the background and colors used are simply amazing but an EYE? Really
guys? Maybe it's because I loved the original cover, the girl, the dress, the
way it looked like glass was shattering everywhere that I'm not too crazy on
these new covers.
6. Gabriel's Inferno by Sylvain Reynard
Sometimes a book cover can be misleading. When I saw the
cover for Gabriel's Inferno I thought it'd be a love triangle of sorts but that
wasn't the case. AT ALL. If I had the power to redesign, I would have my
couple front and center with no creepy guy lurking on the top; or I'd just have
the one guy/girl and no couple! I take that back, I'd JUST want the sexy
as hell professor on this series, maybe with no shirt on & wearing
spectacles. Someone make that happen, pleasssse!
I too enjoyed the original Nightshade cover! Was so upset with the redesign.

I totally agree that ANNA AND THE FRENCH KISS suggests cheesiness, but I grew to like the covers, and now what I have WILL NOT MATCH! And that stinks. Thanks for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteRachel @ Beauty and the Bookshelf
Oh, I love the eye. Especially cause it symbolizes the window to the soul and I think that Shatter Me and the whole series shows such insight to the characters. I think it's the only series where I immediately loved the redesign.
ReplyDeleteAly @ My Heart Hearts Books
I know SO many people who didn't want to read Anna and Lola because the covers were so cheesy. The new covers have definitely grown on me. I like the colors and how they all go together, but I don't think they portray the fun that are in those books at the same time. I'm glad they got rid of that freaky white face on Starters. I don't like the one you have on here either, but it's better than the scary girl

I agree the original covers for the Stephanie Perkins books are cheesy, but I really love them. Especially Lola :). The Shatter Me redesign is pretty strange.
ReplyDeleteI didn't like the first Crewel cover, but I am really not a fan of that second one either! It feels even less connected to the story!
ReplyDeleteI was actually more a fan of the original Delirium cover - it was just more eye-catching to me! And I LOVE the new Shatter Me covers because they're so unique and eye-catching as well - they took a little while to grow on me, but I was really happy with them once they did.
ReplyDeleteI do agree with you about Anna and Lola, though! Those covers also had to grow a bit on me, but once they did I was a big fan of them!
I agree with all of these except for Nightshade and Lola. And I don't love Lola, I'm just ok with it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my TTT :)
Starters has such an odd cover! I quite like the Shatter Me cover though.
ReplyDeleteI like the original covers for Anna and The French Kiss & Lola and the Boy Next Door. It's cute and sweet like the story. I actually don't like the redesigns.
ReplyDeleteI agree about the rest though. Nice picks.
Thanks for stopping by my TTT.
You're so right about Anna and the french kiss!! I was refusing to read it for a long time just because of the cover and the title! I like the shatter me series though!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with Nightshade, Delirium and Starters. But dude, Shatter Me? You've actually got a point there, but that series is so amazing that I think I can easily pass a not so amazing cover. Most contemporaries look the same to me and the Stephanie Perkins books aren't any exception. You have a good list, ladies!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my post earlier. Happy reading and have a great week ahead!

I know the eye is pretty cliche on the Shatter Me cover but they are gorgeous eyes. I also never liked the original cover with the girl. That seemed way more cliche to me than the eye.
ReplyDeleteThanks for checking out my TTT post over at The Flyleaf Review! It was my first! :)
ReplyDeleteI agree with Ana! The new Crewel covers aren't catching my interest. (I thought I was the only one)! Sadly, the covers now look too generic for my taste.
The Crewel cover is pretty silly. Great picks!
ReplyDeleteI'm happy they redesigned the Perkins covers, even though I own the Anna and Lola originals. They definitely scream "cheese-fest." The new Delirium cover is a major upgrade. I do like the Shatter Me eye covers, however, even though it's not the most original idea.
ReplyDeleteStephanie @ Inspiring Insomnia
I much preferred the original cover for Crewel. It was so striking.
ReplyDeleteA week late but great list! I haven't read it yet but I liked that they redesigned the cover for Anna and the French Kiss. Thanks for dropping by my blog last week :)
