"It's an emotional story that will take the reader back to those feelings that made the late teen years such a powerful time."
Late one night Nicki Johnson plays with emotional fire and Googles her high school love, only to find his name splashed across the British gossip columns. Back in his native England, Adam Kincaid is successful and dating a woman from an aristocratic family like his own. With a career in politics, Nicki’s no slouch, but she knows Adam is living a world away from her life.
Yet there was a time he was no farther than the next locker. Nicki will never forget their year together in high school—the year of her sister’s death, the year her mother checked out. Adam helped Nicki through suffocating grief, and she led him through a coming of age. Was it just high school, or was it something more?
I truly enjoyed reading Beside Your
Heart, but the blurb and overall sale of the book is very fallacious. I went in
expecting to read something about reminiscing about your first love and seeing
where you both are now. But instead of just taking a trip down memory lane, we
actually relive everything. Don't get me wrong, it was truly a delight to read
Beside Your Heart, but I wish I would have known a bit more of what I was going
to be reading beforehand.
People are still giving Nicki odd looks,
really that's to be expected. The summer before school started, she, her mother
and sister were in a horrific accident. Her sister didn’t make it. Adam is one of the few that doesn't look at
her differently. Instead, he talks to her about normal everyday things and gets
her to smile and laugh again. Even though they both know that Adam will be gone
by the end of the school year, they want to at least give it a try and see
where their relationship goes. Your first love never fades-- They'll always
hold a special place in your heart.
I love the relationship between Nicki
and Adam. We actually get to see their love develop overtime. I have to say
that has to be my favorite part of Beside Your Heart. Many stories nowadays are
all about insta-love, but honestly, does that happen in real life? Their
friendship and later on their love, felt so raw and real. Even at such a young
age, you see that they truly cared about one another. I can't recommend Beside
Your Heart enough. Truly a must read.
I don't like it when I am a bit mislead by books too.
