~Top Ten Tuesday~

* * Top Ten Tuesdays (TTT) is a weekly event hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. * *

This week we are talking about the Top Ten Goals/Resolutions For 2014 (bookish, not bookish or a blend). This is the time of the year that we make our list of goals and/or resolutions to be accomplish during the year. Most of the time we give up as time goes by, but Hey, it is always fun and constructive to make a list (I think LOL). Here are some of our goals/resolutions for this year.
Ana

1.  If you know me you know that I suffer from "squirrel syndrome." LOL  I get distracted by EVERYTHING!  I mean EVERYTHING.  So, this year I plan on making a list of things that I need to accomplish whether it has to do with the Blog or just stuff I have to do at home and cross them off as I complete them.  I WILL NOT JUMP FROM ONE TASK TO THE OTHER, I WILL WORK MY WAY DOWN THE LIST.  Okay, now if only I could actually follow through. LOL

2.  Last year my father build me some really nice build-in bookshelves, which by the way, are about 90 percent full already. (This is an old picture and I have already filled 6 of those books and some are piled vertically so it would hold more)  Most of those books I haven't read yet *hides face* Yes, I know, how could I have so many books and not have read them.  Well, this year I plan on making a HUGE dent in those shelves. So you heard it friends, I WILL READ THOSE BOOKS!  LOL  Now if I could only tell authors and publishers to please stop putting out awesome books for the next few months so I can really make this happen! What do you think? LOL

3. One of my goal for this year is read 60 books on the GoodReads 2014 Reading Challenge. I also want to read the books that I've had on my TBR list forever. I want to read the books that I own that I've not gotten to yet.

4. Exercise. I know I know. Everybody had this resolution every year but I usually don't. So this year I want to exercise more, just to stay healthy.

Andy
5. Read at least 12 books from my TBR piles that have been on there the longest.

Doris
6. Last year I struggled a lot with some stuff that was going on and it sucked. So one of my resolutions for 2014 is to enjoy life, the good and bad, and just be me again. I want to wake up and have a smile on my face each morning you know.

7. Another resolution that I would love to have accomplished is . . . finally read all the books in my TBR. I know it'll take a lot of years but hey I got time, right.

Johanna
8. Read more books than I did last year.

9. Not request or accept more books for review than I can handle.

Katering
10. My resolution for this year is read books without judging the cover. I will not lie and say working out or something that I will never going to do. Reading is the only exercise I will do and love.

  2. Wow! Nice set of resolutions! I think I could get good use out of a lot of those! I keep whittling away at my TBR pile, but then in a week or so, I add more! I can't help it really, I buy my books when they release to help with author sales and hence my overflowing TBR pile!

    Here's my Tuesday post

    Have a GREAT day!

  6. I'm sensing a theme here... seems that an intrinsic characteristic of the book blogger is collecting way more books than can reasonably be read by one person in a lifetime! At least I know I'm not alone.... Also I LOVE those built-in bookshelves, Ana! Totally jealous! (And I hear ya on filling them up - I started double-stacking one of my bookcases this year and it's already got books stuffed on top of one another using up every single scrap of available space! *sigh*)
Great list, ladies - best of luck with it!

    1. Thanks, I am in love with them too. Sometimes I just sit and stare at them lol Is that weird?? LOL

I think you are right, all bloggers and book lovers suffer from the same thing lol. Thanks for stopping by.

  7. Doris, being happy and working towards that is one of the hardest things but I hope you do it! I'm finally at that point where overall I think life is pretty great but it's always a work in progress! I honestly even use self help books and I journal a lot! It really helps!

Good luck to all of you on your reading goals!!

  8. Nice goals, ladies! I love the idea of working on enjoying life, good and bad. I could be a lot better about that. And the whole accepting/downloading more review books than I can realistically get to.
Here's hoping for a great 2014 for you all! :)

  9. I love the not judging books by their covers resolution. Sometimes that is so hard to do (or not do?). Anyway. I too am going to work on my TBR pile and reading off my own shelves. It's so hard to do when you work in a library and get to take ALL the books home...Good luck everyone! ~Megan

  10. Hahaha squirrel syndrome! I totally have that! I love that term. I need to work on that too!

Reading all the books on my TBR...that's like a life time resolution (that is never going to work out for me) I need to scale down my TBR I think. My goodreads one is just me going click happy and adding soooo many books bc I want to have them on there to remember for some reason and then I forget and now it has exploded.

Good luck with your resolutions, friends!

  11. "squirrel syndrome" that's what I have. I'm going to use that diagnosis from now on. :)

  12. Love these resolutions. Maybe we should start a support group called Reviewers Anonymous, where we meet online to admit our addiction to new books no matter how big our TBR Pile is. Honestly, I have more than I could read in 5 years.

Ana, to-do lists are very important to keep you on track. I've written numerous articles on time management and productivity. If you want the link, shoot me an email at ccmal(at)charter(dot)net. They are geared toward writers, but many of them can help anyone.

Good luck, everyone. Thanks for stopping by The Book Connection.

  13. They are some great resolutions! I hope you girls complete them, I wish you all the luck!
A big thank you to Doris for checking out Book Badger earlier! :)

  14. Love the bookcases, and I'm right on board with needing to cut into the TBR pile. It's amazing how quickly it grows - I have books on two bookcases in my bedroom, another two shelves in the living room, and my ebook backlist? Oi! At some point, I just told myself - you know what? All these books looked really interesting to me at the time, and I'm supporting authors and publishing houses and what not by buying them even if I never actually read them. :)

  15. Ana, you need to stop forgetting things! #anaforeverlost

  16. Thanks for stopping by my blog. These are great goals. I hope reading your own books goes well and you can make a dent in your pile. I also hope that the exercise goal goes well. I think the one about enjoying life is great. I hope all of you achieve your goals this year. I don't often accept review books because I know I already have enough books to read.

  17. Great list! Thanks to Doris for stopping by my post. It's awesome to see all of the goals you guys have- good luck with them!

  18. I didn't include any resolutions regarding my TBR list. I keep adding books to it, so no matter how many I read, it keeps growing and growing :)

  19. Great resolutions! I had all these comments I was going to say, but then I saw the bookshelves and all other thoughts left my head. I love those bookshelves! I want them so much!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Yep, I need to read more books on my bookshelf and stop requesting so many - the pile never ends

    ReplyDelete
  21. These are all great resolutions, and I am pretty jealous of the awesome bookshelves! I'm the same as Ana when it come to all the books I own, but the small percentage of them I have actually read. I definitely need to do the TBR challenge and get some of them done! Thanks for stopping by :-)

  22. Such great resolutions! I definitely need to work on my TBR as well!

  25. I am utterly covetous of those built in bookshelves! Glorious!

  26. Doris - I love your goal to enjoy life. That's pretty much my goal every day. Have to share my favorite about-life quote, from one of my favorite authors - "I tell you, we are here on Earth to fart around, and don't let anybody tell you different" - Kurt Vonnegut.

Good luck to you all on your goals this year!!

  27. These are all great resolutions! Good luck everyone! :)

  28. Ana, I can totally relate with the stacking books vertically on my shelf. I've done that and still can't fit all my books on the shelves in my room.

Good luck to all of you!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Great list of goals from the entire group! I am a list maker

    Ana--I find it helps me greatly. It is rewarding to be able to cross things off my list!! I have books on my shelf that I still need to read too. {shakes hands with you}

Doris--thanks for stopping by and commenting at Love. Life. Read today. I had a rough year last year too and I hope we both have a much better 2014!

Happy Reading to you all :)

  30. Good luck with reading those TBR books! We readers are just too tempted by all of the new shiny books!

    Happy 2014!

  31. I like jumping around with different tasks for my blog, but I also write them down, so I guess it balances out for me! And I'm determined to read as many books that have been on my Goodreads shelf the longest as possible.

  32. So many great goals from all of you! Good luck with all of your goals =)

  34. You all have such great goals for the new year, especially book-related ones! Due to space (well the lack of it), I've had to prune my collection down by getting rid of books that I know I will probably never read. Rah. Good luck on finishing books from your TBR shelves.

@Doris: bwahahaha...and the TBR list keeps on growing... :P tackle it, but don't forget to have fun! I wish you the best in finding your contented zone again. :)

  35. Love these goals! I know what you mean about having a bunch of books around that you haven't even read. I have quite a few of those myself - and I keep buying them! It's a sickness, I tell you! I'm trying to whittle down my TBR mountain, but we'll see how that goes. :)

Thanks for stopping by my blog! :)
