Book Review: Perfect Lies by Kiersten White

I went into this book without any expectations and and felt like the book was missing something, it was missing that WOW factor. Ok, I really liked Mind Games.  It left me really curious about how the author was going to continue this series after that cliffhanger at the end of book one. The whole concept of Feelers, Seers, Readers and Assassins aka Fia, was really unique and weird. I do have to say that I was expecting more from this story, but I can't really explain what.

Fia and Annie are really intriguing characters, somehow the author was able to create them to balance each other. I was a big fan of Fia in Mind Games, she was kick-ass, strong and she had a mind of her own. She followed her instincts and destroyed everyone that got in her way. Annie, has always been delicate and not only because of her condition, but because her character is like that. They have this love for each other, a love that dangerous people take advantage of.

Fia in this installment was crazier than ever! There is something seriously wrong with her, she has a lot of skeletons in her closet, I was afraid of her and for her. She belongs in a mental institution, with a straight jacket and all that. She is psycho, for real! While I enjoyed her character in Mind Games, I did not feel that connected with her in Perfect Lies. She was just to attached to James (whom I did not trust at all) and the tap tap tap tap drove me insane.

Annie is still Annie. She is still sweet and I felt more connected to her than Fia this time. I was rooting for her, I wanted her to fight her disability and stand her ground, and it made me really happy when she was able to do so. I am also glad that the author went with that little surprise moment about her character.

The book is not long, there were a lot of twists and turns in the plot to keep the reader turning pages. I have to say I wanted to know how all this was going to end. How Fia was going to fight against her demons and how Annie was going to help her. The ending is just fine for this duology, it answered all of the open questions and gave me a sense of closure. I LOVED how Annie stepped up at the end just to give the story that BAM! twist.

Overall, I enjoyed this book, there were just a few details that I was not that interested in and also the fact that I was not able to make that connection with Fia like in the first book.  If you have read Mind Games, I totally recommend you to read Perfect Lies. More betrayals, lies, twists, turns and action, this book will keep you on the edge of your seat.
