In continuation with our month long Blogoversary, today we have Karen Amanda Hooper on the blog! I remember I had stumbled upon Grasping at Eternity when I was in search of something new. I can't even express how much I loved it!! Soul mates, lost memories trying to put the pieces back together. Honestly what isn't there to love. Once I finished it I had to dig up some information and low and behold Karen was doing a tour and she was coming to Miami! She is by far the nicest author I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. She was just as exciting about meeting me! How adorable is she?! Once again, thank you times a million to Karen for taking the time to answer these. I know you're on deadline & I'm taking your precious time, but we really appreciate it! :)

Here I (Andy) am with Karen & fellow OABR reviewer Katering.
Born and bred in Baltimore, frolicked and froze in Colorado for a couple of years, and I'm currently sunning and splashing around Florida with my two beloved rescue dogs. I'm addicted to coffee, chocolate, and complicated happily-ever-afters.
I am a constant work in progress.
A self-proclaimed twisted little pixie, I believe that magic and true love really do exist, even in a world that can be ugly at times. I like to dance down rabbit holes and ride shooting stars while playing a never-ending game of “Imagine If…” Then I write about my fantastical musings and call myself an author. I can’t imagine doing anything else. I love storytelling way too much.
I've been making up stories for as long as I can remember. In high school I discovered my passion for putting my thoughts onto paper, but it wasn't until my late twenties that I wrote my first novel. Due to my strong Disney upbringing, I still believe in fairy tales and will forever sprinkle magic throughout all of my novels.
1. Just to start off can you tell us a little bit about your books?
My books are YA that tend to cross over and also appeal to adults. Probably because most of my characters are "old souls." But my stories always have romance and magic at the heart of them.
2. What are some of the challenges you face writing a continuing series?
Remembering everything that happened in previous books. lol. My memory isn't the best.
3. When naming your characters do you give any thought to the actual meaning?
Yes. Especially my main characters. If you research the names of my MCs you'll find they perfectly fit their personality. However, my secondary characters aren't usually so literal with meaning. Many times my secondary characters are name after (or similarly) to important people in my life.
4. What do you think makes Nathan and Maryah stand out from other couples in YA?
Do they stand out? Most days I feel like they get lost in the crowd. ;)
The thing I love about Nathan and Maryah is how much history they have together--literally. There's so much emotion that goes along with that. And, of course, their supernatural abilities create some interesting scenarios,
5. Your characters are truly one of a kind and they all stand out on their own. Do you think you'll ever write a spin-offs series or maybe some deleted from their previous lives?
Most definitely. I really struggled with whether or not to make FIGHTING FOR INFINITY the final book in Nathan and Maryah's story, or to keep it going. I decided to end it at three because I didn't readers to feel like they were being strung along for longer than necessary. But I love the Kindrily characters and their world so much that I will most certainly write a companion novel or two.
6. FIGHTING FOR INFINITY is set to come out soon. Is there anything you can tell us of what's to come? Maybe a little teaser? ;)
April 30th! Eep!
All I can tell you is Maryah has to endure some serious mind games, secrets are revealed that hopefully readers never saw coming, and someone dies, but I'm not telling who. I will reveal who the narrators are this time: Maryah and...Nathan. :)
