Author Spotlight & Interview with Katie McGarry

In continuation with our month long Blogoversary, today we Katie McGarry on the blog! Here at Owl Always Be Reading, we are huge fans of Katie, we all love all of hers books and we are also really excited about her new book Take Me On. Due to deadlines (BOO but YAY! for new books), she is not able to a longer interview with me BUT we managed to keep it sweet and short. I totally recommend that you go and read her books (if you haven't yet). I hope you enjoy this post and keep checking with us for more interviews and giveaways!

Katie McGarry was a teenager during the age of grunge and boy bands and remembers those years as the best and worst of her life. She is a lover of music, happy endings, and reality television, and is a secret University of Kentucky basketball fan.

Q. I know each book has a different narrator and I love that in every one we get to see characters from previous books. It isn't until recently that we started seeing companion novels. Did you always intend for the story to be a series? How did that aspect evolve?

A.  I wrote Pushing the Limits as a stand-alone novel and I had never thought of continuing the series until my publisher had asked me if I would be interested. The answer was an immediate yes. I fell in love with Beth and Isaiah while writing Pushing the Limits and I knew they both had stories that needed to be told.

Q. If you could be a character in any of your novels, who would you be and why?

A. Great question! I would have to say Rachel because she spends a lot of time with Isaiah and she gets to kiss him. I have a huge crush on Isaiah.

Q.  I am really excited about Take Me On. I cant wait to meet this new set of characters. Can you tell us a little bit more about the story? A teaser, maybe!

A. In Take Me On, champion kickboxer, Haley, has to train a newcomer to her school, West Young, when he accepts a mixed martial arts fight in her honor. Haley and West have agreed to keep their relationship strictly in the ring. But as an unexpected bond forms between them and attraction mocks their best intentions, they'll face their darkest fears and discover love is worth fighting for.

Here is a small teaser from Haley’s point of view:

…(West) is fantastically pretty, that’s for sure. His golden blond hair is cut short and is styled. Trendy yet not. Exactly like the rest of him. A combination of dangerous and steaming hot.

He wears jeans, the sexy kind. A bit baggy, not overly. Just enough that his black boxers peek out when he walks. And thanks to the clingy t-shirt, the world knows he’s on-fire ripped in every single delicious way.
I close my eyes and suck in air. Stop it. West is not hot. He’s a fighter. He’s trouble. Been there, done that, got the T-shirt and the associated heartache.
