Sophie Winters nearly died. Twice.
The first time, she's fourteen, and escapes a near-fatal car accident with scars, a bum leg, and an addiction to Oxy that'll take years to kick.
The second time, she's seventeen, and it's no accident. Sophie and her best friend Mina are confronted by a masked man in the woods. Sophie survives, but Mina is not so lucky. When the cops deem Mina's murder a drug deal gone wrong, casting partial blame on Sophie, no one will believe the truth: Sophie has been clean for months, and it was Mina who led her into the woods that night for a meeting shrouded in mystery.
After a forced stint in rehab, Sophie returns home to a chilly new reality. Mina's brother won't speak to her, her parents fear she'll relapse, old friends have become enemies, and Sophie has to learn how to live without her other half. To make matters worse, no one is looking in the right places and Sophie must search for Mina's murderer on her own. But with every step, Sophie comes closer to revealing all: about herself, about Mina and about the secret they shared
Far From You was nothing what I expected, it was better actually!  I am a sucker for covers and when I saw the cover on NetGalley, I requested it before reading what it was about.  I'm spontaneous like that. LOL Or just crazy. But I like the idea of reading a book and not knowing what to expect.  Well, Far From You is a love story and murder mystery tied into one book.

Have you ever fallen in love with a character from just hearing another character retell her story?  Well, that's exactly what happened with me and Mina.  Throughout the whole book, Sophie relives fond memories of Mina and her.  Mina was such a kindred spirit and I can see how their relationship and love for one another developed.

Mina was murdered one night right in front of Sophie.  Sophie has had a rough few years after her car accident and got hooked on Oxy and was sent to rehab for it.  So, when they find pills in Sophie's pocket, automatically everyone, including the police think that she relapsed and that Mina died because of a drug deal gone horribly wrong.  My heart broke when I thought of poor Sophie in a rehab trying to grieve over her best friend, but not getting the real help she needed because everyone was focusing on her relapsing. When she is finally released, she makes a promise to Mina that she will find out who murdered her.

Mina had her secrets and that's what hurt Sophie the most. Why couldn't her best friend tell her what she was up to? What if she would have said no to Mina about detouring and not going straight to the party? All of those what ifs?!  But Sophie is stronger then that.  I honestly look up to her.  Ever after all she had been through, she stayed strong.

Far From You is a great book about second chances. Sometimes we make mistakes, but it's up to us to try to fix them and learn from them.  This book was beautiful and the ending was perfect. I wouldn't change a thing.  I am really excited to read more book by Ms. Sharpe.
