A beautiful and distinguished family.
A private island.
A brilliant, damaged girl; a passionate, political boy.
A group of four friends—the Liars—whose friendship turns destructive.
A revolution. An accident. A secret.
Lies upon lies.
True love.

The truth.

We Were Liars is a modern, sophisticated suspense novel from National Book Award finalist and Printz Award honoree E. Lockhart.

Read it.

And if anyone asks you how it ends, just LIE.
This might be one of the hardest reviews I have ever had to do because anything I say can ruin the book for someone else. So with that being said, I will not talk about what happens nor what the book is about. I will say this; We Were Liars is about a group of friends and cousins who come from a very predominate family who have their own set of family problems. Pretty vague, right? I do have one suggestion though, DO NOT analyze the book. DO NOT try to figure things out, just read and the ending will shock you.

E. Lockhard is a brilliant writer. I have never read a book with this writing style, but it worked PERFECTLY for this story. The emotions and all the feels in this book is overwhelming, in a good way of course.

So, if you want to read a story that will shock you and pretty much leave you speechless, then you HAVE to get We Were Liars. This book is all kind of amazing.

  1. I had to review a book a little while ago where I had the same problem as you have had, where talking about the book would give away it away for someone else. So hard to praise it when you can say what you're praising for..... definitely a difficult job but you've handled it well and this sounds like an intriguing book to look out for, thank you xx
