First off let me say that Mikayla has been through a lot. Being on the run your whole life sucks especially when you're accused of murdering your mother at age 17. Seriously her life couldn't get anymore complicated but . . . But it does. The same day Mikayla goes back to the crime scene is when her world is rocked. Literally.
Mikayla is the queen of sass. Her liners were laugh out loud HILARIOUS! She's such a cool main character and it was sad seeing how she never had a friend while growing up. So props to Jus for creating Shaun; he's the only one who could ever keep up with Mikayla. Handcuffs are definitely the new thing ;)
I think what I liked most about this book is that it kept me guessing the entire time. All the secrets that were hidden were revealed and wow Jus, I was shocked just as Mikayla was. (I would definitely read a book about Mikayla's mom past, just sayin)
Jus definitely knows how to write action scenes like no ones business. Seriously while I was reading I felt like Jason Bourne was going to pop out and karate chop my ass.
Rules of Survival is a fast paced book that will leave you hungry for more. Each new discovery that Mikayla makes about her moms past is a step toward to getting her freedom.
I thought this was a fun and entertaining read. I loved how sassy Mikayla was and how Shaun was like the perfect match for her. The mystery had shocking twists that I wasn't able to guess, and I thought the romance and suspense was well-balanced. Great review! :)
