“Full of emotional angst, scorching love scenes, and a compelling storyline.”—Dear Author
THE NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER
Gideon Cross came into my life like lightning in the darkness…
He was beautiful and brilliant, jagged and white-hot. I was drawn to him as I’d never been to anything or anyone in my life. I craved his touch like a drug, even knowing it would weaken me. I was flawed and damaged, and he opened those cracks in me so easily…
Gideon knew. He had demons of his own. And we would become the mirrors that reflected each other’s most private wounds…and desires. The bonds of his love transformed me, even as i prayed that the torment of our pasts didn't tear us apart...
In this first book of the Crossfire series, Bared to You, Eva Tramell has just arrived in New York via California.  Having moved to the city after college, she is determined to build her career from entry level up without the help of her very rich and influential family.  Her first steps into the Crossfire building where she will work, Eva literally stumbles upon sexy, sexy, sexy Gideon Cross; the ridiculously handsome, young and charming billionaire who owns most of Manhattan, including the buildings where she works and lives.  Having a strong, instant, physical attraction, Gideon immediately propositions her into a relationship-less sexual relationship... yep, just plain old steaming hot sex...with no strings attached.  Having initially felt his approach to be crass, rude and totally seductive, Eva was both repulsed and reluctant but at the same time completely turned on and soon found she could not resist him or the urges that draw her to him.

What Eva didn't anticipate was how quickly she would fall for him, even after discovering that this suave, sophisticated, cool-as-a-cucumber, gorgeous man was seriously tormented from a traumatic past which he will not reveal to her.  Knowing she was still working hard to overcome her own troubles, she is terrified of the intense hold he has on her, but even more frightened by how desperately she is now craving it.  Because of the media circus that comes with dating such a high profiled man, she fears that her own secret past will be revealed and Gideon will no longer want to be with her once he finds out the truth.  As they each become consumed by the other, they are driven to fight the good fight to stay together even when it seems the odds are stacking against them.

To say I loved this story, would be the understatement of the year.  I eagerly ripped through every page, panting breathlessly over Gideon and seriously wishing I were Eva.  In addition to the highly erotic scenes, it was also filled with humor and an eclectic array of secondary characters, all of which were refreshing and believable.  Sylvia Day wrote a beautiful story filled with angst, glamour, romance and, oh yeah, lots of sex. This novel had me up late at night and groggy in the mornings, but worth every blissful second.
