Since her sister's death, twenty-year-old Paisley Donovan, who shares her sister’s heart condition, is treated like delicate glass by her parents. But nothing will stop her from completing her Bucket List—even if it kills her. And it almost does, until Jagger Bateman pulls her from the ocean and breathes more than air into her lungs—he sets her soul on fire.
Jagger is enrolled in the country's toughest flight school. He's wickedly hot, reckless, and perfect for a girl looking to live life to the fullest. Except that Paisley is the commanding general's daughter, and her boyfriend is Jagger's biggest rival. Now Paisley must decide just how much to risk for a guy who makes her heart pound a little too hard.
They're flying through dangerous territory—and one wrong move could make them crash and burn...
Ever have a crap-tastic day and then you read and everything is better in the world? Well, that's what happened with Eyes Turned Skyward, it made my day ten times better. I knew I was going to love this book and I did and ahhhhhhh that epilogue was beyond perfect.
Right off the bat I liked Paisley, she's this spunky character that wanted to live life to the fullest with the time she had. You see Paisley has a heart condition that limits her, she can't do normal things like run because her heartbeat will pump too fast and that could lead to a heart attack. But that didn't stop her from experiencing what she wanted. I am so so so proud of Paisley and everything she accomplished with her life. She didn't let the fear of the unknown scare her and I couldn't help but be amazed at the woman she is.
As soon as I was introduced to Jagger I was gone gone gone. I mean he saved Paisley from drowning without even knowing her, yeah I have it bad for that guy, just call me Mrs. Jagger, ha. In all serious-ness, Jagger is one of those guys that has been burned in the past and that pushes him harder to work for himself and at flight school. Jagger was a mystery to me and I liked finding out how he became the man he is now, he has a secret or two or three that left me with my mouth hanging open. (I took a guess at what those secrets were and I was totally wrong.)
PAISLEY AND JAGGER ARE SO DAMN SPECIAL IT HURTS. Their story pulled at way too many of my heartstrings and I don't even know how I'm still functioning. When Paisley and Jagger are together it's like no one else exist in the world but them and I smiled every time they blocked out their friends to have a heated make out session. This couple is a force to be reckoned with and watching them take charge of their lives and each other made my heart soar.
Rebecca Yarros, you have moved me with the way you captured life, trust, and love with this story. I couldn't get enough of your characters, your writing and you gave me so many feelings with those last chapters that I thought I would never stop crying. Eyes Turned Skyward has a place in my heart forever and it's definitely one of my top favorite reads of 2014.

A book that can turn your whole day around? Now this sounds like something I should really pick up as soon as possible! I also like the idea of a satisfying epilogue as well. I hate not knowing what happens to the characters at the end of a story.
