Kara Marcus is desperate to forget the past and move on. But she can’t escape her choices—especially when she finds herself falling in love…

Since the first day she stepped into her childhood Southern Baptist church, two truths have been engrained in Kara Marcus’s head: sex before marriage is bad and murder is a sin. And that’s why Kara can never forgive herself for what she did at the age of sixteen.

Now, as second semester of freshman year comes to a close, Kara has stood by her high school boyfriend, Ethan. But as they seem to grow further and further apart every day, Kara realizes that she has feelings for someone else: Ethan’s roommate Colt.

Suddenly, Kara’s clear-cut world shifts out of focus, and she’s torn between what her head tells her is right and what her heart is desperately pushing her to do—even if it means committing another undeniable sin...
Miles From Kara is one of those books that I could barely contain my feelings after I read the last page. I adored Kara in Pieces of  Olivia but then she lied to my girl Liv and I was like "whoa, who exactly are you." So when Melissa said that Kara would be getting her own book I was excited times a million.  I wanted to know EVERYTHING about Kara. I wanted to know what made her laugh. I wanted to know what made her sad. Basically I wanted to know everything that made Kara who she is now.

I don't know how Melissa does it but she always finds a way for her characters to be freaking awesome and Kara is no exception. She's a special, fun, lovable, extraordinary character with a big heart who touches you in ways you never thought possible. Kara brings compassion wherever she goes but she's hard on herself which makes her easy to identify with. Throughout the story we see Kara battling her inner demons and it was rough; she's never really talked to anyone about the abortion she had and it eats at her. So I was glad when she started opening up to others about her teenage years. It takes someone strong to look at their past, to try to move on and Kara did her best and I'm just so so so proud of her.

COLT COLT COLT. I LOVE YOU. I LOVE YOUR AUSTRALIAN-NESS. AND YOU ARE MY NEWEST BOOK BOYFRIEND. Seriously he was their for Kara in ways she needed and I'm just oh-la-la for this couple. Their relationship was a slow burn that had me grinning from ear to ear. I loved that nothing was rushed, he didn't ask for more than she was willing to give. Oh, and the text messages they sent each other, CUTEST COUPLE AWARD GOES TO THEM.

The subject of abortion doesn't come up in many novels and I like that Melissa took that risk. We don't really know what a person goes through when they decide to make that decision and Melissa took us through it all with Kara. It wasn't pretty but it was realistic and eye opening and I just want to hug everyone because the honesty of Melissa's writing is just out-of-this-world-crazy-good.

I can 100% say that Melissa has outdone herself, I loved Miles From Kara so so so much! I couldn't be happier with Kara's journey of healing and of fully accepting the past even when it hurts. I'm going to throw this series in everyone's face so they can read it and love it just as much as I do. Without a doubt, Miles From Kara is my favorite book of Melissa's.
