* * Top Ten Tuesdays (TTT) is a weekly event hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. * *This week topic is Ten Book Related Problems I Have (could be serious or fun!)
1.
I will be the first to admit that I totally judge books by their covers. But honestly, am I the only one that does that? I am sure there are plenty of readers out there that do it too. #sorrynotsorry
2.
I don't like to giveaway my books. I will receive an ARC and later buy the book in hardcover because I loved it, and not get rid of the ARC. I know I should probably give it away to someone, but my hoarding nature just doesn't want to do it. #dontjudgeme
3.
Not enough time to read all the books in my TBR pile. This I am sure will be on everyone's list. If authors would give us a year to not come out with any new books (that would be completely devastating even just suggesting it) so we could catch up, that would help us made a huuuuuuge dent in our TBR pile. Even though that would be a great thing (making a dent in our TBR pile) Authors have to eat and provide for their families too, so that wouldnt work. LOL I guess we just have to try and not look at our TBR pile. *le sigh*
4.
I spend waaaaay too much money on books. Like I said above, if I fall in love with a book after reading the ARC, I will buy the hardcover just because I like hardcovers and I want to support the author. But seriously, I spend waaaaay too much money. LOL
5.
I wish I could attend every book event there is. In a perfect world, I would be rich and I would go to all the book events without having to worry about taking too many vacation days and OMG, the hotel is how much??!! I love going to BEA and ALA, but those places cost a lot of money to attend. When you add up airfare, hotel, food and shipping(books), it can cost a lot of money.
6.
I HAVE NO MORE ROOM FOR BOOKS, yet I still continue to buy them. I have books all over my house and all my bookshelves are completely full. I was actually thinking of getting some for my room next.
7.
I wish we could get the ebook for free after we buy the paperback or hardcover. Have you seen how expensive some of the ebooks are? It's insane to have to pay $6.99 and more for an ebook. I would gladly pay $2 or $3 for it but when they get to $10, I have to seriously draw the line. But I like to have the ebook too because it's easier for me to read on my cell phone or iPad then it is a paperback or hardcover. Don't get me wrong, I love owning the physical book (see book problem #2, 4 and 6).
8.
I like to touch, smell and stare at books. Pretty creepy, huh? LOL #bookproblemnumber8
9.
If I really like a book, I tend to stay up really late trying to read as much as I can. Having a 6 year old son, husband and two yorkies, late night reading is that best because everyone is asleep and the house is so quiet and peaceful. The problem? I am dead tired the next day and most of the time with a book hangover!
10.
I tend to judge people when they say they don't like to read. My husband is one of them people. I still love him, but how could you not like to read?! Sorry for putting you out there babe! LOL
* * How about you? What are your book related problems?! * *
I love smelling old books. It's particularly comforting for me to smell The Tao Te Ching, which I took with permission from my parents' shelves at 16 and which got me through a very depressing year.
ReplyDeleteI also have a pretty large TBR list, and not enough space for all my books.
There is never enough time to read books. I DON'T WANT TO DO ANYTHING BUT REEEEAD!
ReplyDeleteWell said.
Great list! I totally judge books by their covers and will often splurge on a hardcover just for the pretty cover! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on so many of these points! I definitely judge a book by its cover. I can't help it... My TTT
ReplyDeleteI relate to so many of your problems! I judge books by their covers. I definitely hoard books, which means I also spend waaaaaay too much money on them. I want to go to all the book events, but have to be realistic. But when an event is in NYC (I live in DC), I get all antsy and want to immediately jump on the train! Oh my god, #8. I'm so glad I'm not the only one. It creeps out my non-reader friends. LOL
ReplyDeleteMy TTT>!
I should have added number 10 on my list. (I kinda did but I didn't name names) LOL! But I know what you mean and what it's like. They just don't get it. :) Great list.
ReplyDeleteI definitely judge books by their covers as well. I feel like everyone does but not everyone would admit to it! I've run out of room for books as well. :( I'm going to have to purge some soon. I recently bought a Kindle and I do have to agree-it is a bit ridiculous to pay $10 for an ebook, especially if it's already out in paperback. Great list! :)

I share a number of the same problems you have. I wish that your #7 was a thing, too. I like to be able to carry all the books around with me so I can choose whatever I want, but still have the physical book to lend to people, and I like to lend books to people. Great list.
