I had an urge to fix all her problems. Which was stupid. She was doing fine without me. But something about those big eyes…
Mase Colt-Manning has always preferred his humble life as a Texas rancher to his birthright as the son of a legendary rock star. In fact, he rarely visits his father’s rarefied world in Rosemary Beach, especially if it means bunking at his vile half-sister Nan’s house—until one visit leads to a chance encounter with a young, gorgeous house maid who awakens him with her off-key but spirited imitation of a country music star…
Reese Ellis finally has her freedom. After escaping a lifetime of abuse from her parents and classmates for an undiagnosed learning disorder, she seizes the opportunity to be a house maid to some of the richest families in Rosemary Beach. But her job is in jeopardy when she causes an accident at the home of her most important client, Nan Dillon. When a hot, half-naked stranger with a cowboy’s swagger comes to her rescue, she’s intrigued—then afraid once he shows his own interest. Reese has never met a trustworthy man in her life. Will Mase be any different?

First thoughts...the cover’s different. If I had not already been in love with this series, the cover would not have drawn me to pick it up. Way too western for me. Luckily, I love Abbi Glines and her Rosemary Beach series, so even though I’m not thrilled about the cover, I knew the content was going to be great.

Next thought, after reading the blurb, THANK GOD! Okay so, I do love the Rosemary Beach series, but to be honest, I stopped reading at Twisted Perfection. The reason? I hit a huge reading slump and the books were not moving me as emotionally as the first two books in the series had; I was not as connected to the characters as I had been to Rush and Blaire. So I stopped because I didn't want to start disliking a series that I love so much. So why THANK GOD to this book? Because it’s a return to the original, Fallen Too Far, which gave me all the damn feels!

Yep, I skipped over Simple Perfection, Take a Chance, One More Chance, and You Were Mine to read this baby! Readers new to the Rosemary Beach series don’t need to read all the previous books before this one. The book is 100% understandable even if you don’t have the back story of all the Rosemary Beach players, though it is nice to have some of the history. I’ll have to go back and read the others later.

Let’s return to the feels shall we. The prologue. That’s all it took for me to know that I was going to have the same visceral reaction to When I’m Gone that I had to Fallen Too Far. Fallen Too Far brought me to tears more than once and so did this beauty of a book. Every few pages my heart broke over Reese’s plight. SPOILER ALERT….Reese can’t read or write, but she does not let that stop her from making a life for herself even after the HORRIBLE upbringing she had. I do love me a strong female lead! So back to the reading and writing thing. Every time she struggled with this my heart just completely broke into a million pieces, every time she went to the library to check out picture books or took hours to get through those picture books, I was rendered into a complete puddle of gushing tears. I know that this will not affect other readers as it did me, but as someone who has loved to read since birth, and who makes a living as a reading teacher. I. JUST. COULDN'T. HANDLE. IT.

Can we talk Mase for just a moment please! Was he mentioned in the other books that I didn't read? I don’t remember him from the books that I did read! He’s a damn cowboy, a sexy ass cowboy who lives on a ranch in Texas. Jeans, cowboy boots! Please, just please! Every time he said “mine” I about died! And when he tells Reese “when you realize what you've said and what you've done, call me. I’ll be waiting. I’ll wait forever if I have to.” SWOON!

I did not see the ending of this book coming. I know there is going to be a second book that continues Reese and Mase’s story, but I was not expecting this! Oh, I cannot wait to read the next book. It should be real interesting.
