When seventeen-year-old Lilliana Young enters the Metropolitan Museum of Art one morning during spring break, the last thing she expects to find is a live Egyptian prince with godlike powers, who has been reawakened after a thousand years of mummification.
And she really can’t imagine being chosen to aid him in an epic quest that will lead them across the globe.

But fate has taken hold of Lily, and she, along with her sun prince, Amon, must travel to the Valley of the Kings, raise his brothers, and stop an evil, shape-shifting god named Seth from taking over the world.

From New York Times bestselling author Colleen Houck comes an epic adventure about two star-crossed teens who must battle mythical forces and ancient curses on a journey with more twists and turns than the Nile itself.

This is the first book that I have read by author Colleen Houck and I absolutely loved it. I dare to say that it is one of my favorite books of the year. The first thing that attracted me to the book was the cover. As soon as I saw the hieroglyphics, I knew this book was for me since I have a slight obsession with ancient Egypt.

The book begins introducing Lilliana Young, the protagonist. With pressure from her parents about college decisions and future plans, Lilliana finds herself at the Metropolitan Museum of Arts which is a usual hang out spot for her. She is trying to find a quiet place to think and try to get her life in order when the unexpected happens. In the Egyptian wing of the museum, a thousand year old mummy is stirring about. But this mummy is not missing body parts or wrapped up in old pieces of cloth, this mummy is an Egyptian prince who is about to turn Lilliana’s world upside down.

This book was an absolute delight. From the very beginning, I was completely lost within the story. I found myself reading the book very slowly because I was enjoying it so much...I didn’t want it to end. At times, I laughed out loud which gained me weird looks from my husband. And then at other times I cried hysterically which also gained me weird looks from my husband. This book was so different from all the books that I have read before. I truly enjoyed it and I can’t wait for the next book!!!

So, what can I say about the characters in this book? Well...I really like Lilliana. She is an educated city girl who does not take anyone’s nonsense. However, partaking in her new adventure has brought out a whole new side of her that she didn’t know existed. She grows so much as a person and I really enjoyed following her journey. Now, let me talk about the Egyptian prince, Amon. I fell head over heals for this prince very early on in the book. Although I have many book boyfriends, Amon is ranking number 1 at the moment. It is going to take a special kind of guy to take that spot from Amon.

I had the opportunity to visit the Metropolitan Museum in New York about a year and a half ago. My visit was fantastic even though I did not have time to see everything. When I found out that there was a wing with Egyptian artifacts and relics I made it a priority to go there before my day was over. When the story began and Lilliana is at the MET in the Egyptian wing, I could clearly see the scene develop in my mind. I was a bit disappointed that I didn’t find an Egyptian prince when I visited the MET, but I have already decided that I will go back one day and try again! I have always wanted to visit Egypt and this book has just increased that desire even more.
