Sometimes Hope is the Most Extraordinary Gift of All. High-school radio host Jasmine Torres's life is full of family dysfunction, but if she can score the internship of her dreams with a New York City radio station, she knows she can turn things around. That is, until her brother Danny’s latest seizure forces her to miss the interview, and she’s back to the endless loop of missing school for his doctor appointments, picking up the pieces of her mother’s booze-soaked life, and stressing about Danny’s future. Then she meets Wes. He’s the perfect combination of smart, cute, and funny. He also happens to have epilepsy like her brother. Wes is living a normal life despite his medical issues, which gives Jasmine hope for Danny. But memories of her cheating ex-boyfriend keep her from going on a real date with Wes, no matter how many times he asks her. Jasmine can’t control everything. Not who wins the internship, not her mother’s addiction, not her brother’s health--not even where her heart will lead her. She wishes she could just have an ordinary life, but maybe what she already has is pretty extraordinary after all.

This Ordinary Life seemed to look like such a simplistic novel just by the cover of the book.  But then I read the synopsis and I knew I needed to give this book a chance. And boy am I glad I did. I was so pulled in by everything that the story became a perfect read.

The story flowed between the chapters and even though there was still a little bit I wish we could learn about more of the characters but overall it was a refreshing read. I had been in this reading slump and after reading this book I was ready to tackle my reading pile.

Jasmine is one strong heroine. I give her props to what she has to go through. Although, through all the problems she has to face, she does not seem to give up or let go of her dreams. The struggle that she has face but that all changes when she meets Wes. They are so perfect for each other. Their relationship sends butterflies through my body and give me the jitters. This is the relationship I wish I could have.

This book beyond the simplicity offers topics that anyone could possibly relate too. And I feel that when authors are able to write to topics of these, the story becomes so much more of a connection to the reader.

Overall this was an amazing read that I am glad that I picked up. I feel that everyone should take time in picking up this read and see where it goes for you. A simplistic read that became a simplistic masterpiece.
