Gavin tells Delilah he’s hers—completely—but whatever lives inside that house with him disagrees.
After seven years tucked away at an East coast boarding school, Delilah Blue returns to her small Kansas hometown to find that not much has changed. Her parents are still uptight and disinterested, her bedroom is exactly the way she left it, and the outcast Gavin Timothy still looks like he’s crawled out of one of her dark, twisted drawings.
Delilah is instantly smitten.
Gavin has always lived in the strange house: an odd building isolated in a stand of trees where the town gives in to mild wilderness. The house is an irresistible lure for Delilah, but the tall fence surrounding it exists for good reason, and Gavin urges Delilah to be careful. Whatever lives with him there isn’t human, and isn’t afraid of hurting her to keep her away.
If you read Christina Lauren's Beautiful Bastard and Wild Season adult series you know how hot, steamy and sexy they are. Well, THE HOUSE is the complete opposite of that!  THE HOUSE is creepy and weird, but in a good way. LOL  I will have to admit that I didn't even know the dynamic duo had another book coming out, nonetheless a scary book!  So, when I saw it on Edelweiss, I knew I just had to get it!

I will have to admit that I am not really into scary books nor movies, but something about the premise of THE HOUSE got my attention.  Plus, my two favorite girls wrote it, so I coulsn't say no.

When Delilah first went inside the House, this is what I thought of:

Do you recognize it?  It's the part where Merlin, from The Sword in the Stone, uses his magic so all of Arthur (aka Wart's) chores get done so Arthur could go out and explore with him.  The only difference is that House is dark. Like, super dark.

It's Christina Lauren, of course there is going to be some romance! Although it lacked their typical hardcore steamy scenes, I felt the connection between Delilah and Gavin.

Delilah is a hardcore badass!  Let me tell you, this girl is fearless!  I would have been like, peace Gavin!  You are on your own, my friend.  LOL  Just kidding. (Am I?) But seriously, Delilah is a badass chick!  Love her! Gavin is adorable. He is so sweet to Delilah and I kind of felt bad for him. His childhood was everything but normal and the fact that he came out "normal" is quite a miracle.

THE HOUSE is a great book to read now for Halloween.  There is a creepy and scary element to the story. I promise you that you will never look at your house, or any other house for that matter, the same way again.

  1. OOoh nice! I love a good creepy read! Now, scary movies? Nope. Not usually anyway! LOL! But a book I can do! I guess I can downplay the horror in my mind. Or I know I can stop, turn on a thousand lights and then start reading again! Haha. But yeah, this one was starting to catch my attention lately! Nice review!

  2. On a scale of Kittens to Amityville Horror House, how creepy was this novel? LOL. Did it leave you with nightmares, or just creeped out? I love books that are really going to scare me.

    1. I wasn't scared at all. It was just "different." LOL

    2. I wasn't scared at all. It was just "different." LOL
