Lights, Camera, OWLS! Movie Review: Allegiant

As an avid book lover, I was very excited to see the movie adaptation of Allegiant. Starring Shailene Woodley as our heroine Tris Prior and Theo James as Four, the films based on the first two novels were action-packed and intriguing, making us excited to see what was next with the franchise.

In the film, Tris escapes with Four to journey beyond the wall that encloses Chicago. For the first time, they leave the only city and family they have ever known to find a peaceful solution. Once outside, they learn shocking new truths that render old discoveries meaningless. As a ruthless battle threatens humanity, Tris and Four quickly decide who to trust to survive. Tris must ultimately make difficult choices about courage, allegiance, sacrifice and love, according to the film's official description. And, when we saw the movie, we were excited to see that it is certainly the most action-packed movie in the franchise to date that will keep fans on the edge of their seats.

While I don't want to reveal too many spoilers, let's just say the movie definitely escapes the clutches of the book's plot that might have alienated some fans who read it and weren't too excited with what happened in it. While it keeps the essence of it, this is a movie about alliances, friendships and even tough lessons about love and life that keep us holding on to the end.

I highly recommend Allegiant and was very excited to catch the film's preview this past week. Shailene Woodley was amazing as Tris, as she discovers new things about herself beyond the constraints of the wall, and Theo was fantastic as Four, who has some of the most amazing action-filled sequences that we have seen him in thus far.

Make sure you catch this movie as soon as possible and let us know what you think at @AuroraMiami. Until then, I hope you have a movie-filled and bookish-packed weekend and we look forward to your comments about Allegiant!
