As an avid film lover, there's nothing more exciting than watching a new movie! I recently had the chance to catch the new Tina Fey film, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot and I can honestly say it was a great one that truly stayed with me after it was over.

In the film, which takes place in 2002, cable news producer Kim Barker, played by the lovable and hilarious Tina Fey, decides to take on a career risk by taking a new reporting assignment in Kabul, Afghanistan. Far away from the comforts of the city and American ways, Barker finds herself in the middle of an intense war zone. During her adventures, she meets fellow reporter Tanya Vanderpoel, played by actress Margot Robbie, and learns quickly that life is certainly not the same anymore, especially when she's so far away from home.

Recently, I left a full time position as a journalist to become a full-time teacher and freelancer, which was a great risk on its own that I totally don't regret and I am happy with...and the reason I mention this, is because the film truly resonated with me. While it had its comedic moments, Tina's character Kim quickly learns that life as a successful correspondent can be risky, exciting and even daring...between a mix of all-night parties and even meeting new and interesting people, she quickly learned so much about herself and about her career and what risk-taking is all about...something that truly resonates with our lives when we are looking to move forward and take a risk. I don't want to give much away, but the film's themes of friendship, love and learning to take yourself and your career to the next level and learning sometimes even tough lessons in the process will resonate with a lot of movie watchers, as they laugh their way through this movie with a lot of heart.

I highly recommend catching this film, which was based on a bookish memoir by the real-life journalist itself. You will find yourself touched and realizing that sometimes in life risks are worth taking.
