I have a special relationship with the series that Sybil Bartel has written because they have expanded my reading horizons. Her first series *The Unchecked Series* completely took over my life. I rapidly fell for all of the characters in this series. Some time later Sybil announced that some of the characters that appeared in the Unchecked Series were getting their own stories! To make the story short, Neil is the 5th book that I have read from Sybil. It is the second book in the Uncompromise series.
In my reading adventures I have met many, many alpha males. You know, the ones that are dominant, over protective and make you swoon. Despite of all of the alpha males that I have met, Neil was a very different kind of alpha. I won’t give you too much detail because I don’t want to give out spoilers. I will say this though...his nickname is Viking. *Mic Drop*
I can’t forget to mention the female lead in this book because I absolutely love her. Not only is she is a single mother who is doing everything she can to take care of her son but, she is also strong willed and independent. She is feisty and has the mouth of a sailor. *I can relate!*
What I enjoyed the most about Neil was how the characters developed through the book. What I liked was that although the characters changed (as they should) throughout the story, their character traits were not affected at all. The characters grew and adjusted to each other without having to become a complete different person. From the very beginning there was no pretending. These characters are very real and in your face. At times I worried tremendously because I just couldn't see how it was going to work. Anyways...you will have to read it yourself to understand what I mean!
Once again, Sybil Bartel delivers a wonderful book full of action, surprises, twists and turns. She stays true to her characters and the way that they all intertwined make the flow of the story that much better. The characters and plot will keep you at the edge of your seat...or couch. You will keep turning from page to page and be amaze at how quickly times goes by...which is exactly what happens when you are reading a great book!
