There’s no wrath like that of a witch scorned.Overall, I defiantly enjoyed this book, and am very much looking forward to next installment, as Blood Rose ended so....abruptly, coitus interruptus if you will, that I need more, right now.
As one of the only spirit users in her coven, Avah has been chosen to wield The Power, the ultimate weapon against the immortal vampire species witches have been at war with for centuries.
But on the night of her birth rite, Avah’s coven is attacked. Forced to seek refuge among the very beings she’s sworn to kill, Avah vows revenge on those who took her former life from her.
As Avah slowly transitions into a life of blood and war, she realizes everything she’s been told is a lie.
I really, really, really wanted to give this book a 4 Star, and there were defiantly a lot of 4 Star moments in Blood Rose, but for a good portion in the middle of the book, I was quite disappointed with the character development of the main character, Avah, whose name I adore, by the way.
This book is faced paced and engaging. I was roped in from the first page. Avah was so kick ass and strong. I loved being in her head. I got hard core Buffy the Vampire Slayer vibes. Being a huge fan of Buffy, I loved every moment when the vibes hit. I mean, Avah is a vampire slayer! And the chosen one! Not to mention she had quirky one liners for her vampire foes, just like Buffy did.
But then something happens to Avah, and by the end of Chapter 3, I felt like she was not the same character at all. All of a sudden she was no longer this strong, kick ass vampire slayer, she turned into this weak, follower of a girl. I defiantly saw glimpses of her while I continued reading though, and by end of Chapter 10, she was 100% back to "normal".
There was also some instalove that I was not trilled about, though I did love the romance between Avah and Jasik. There were some seriously swoon worthy scenes, and great romantic tension. And boy oh boy did I love Jasik. He is such a great male lead. A great mix of strong alpha male and puppy dog sweetness.
A new character is introduced at the end of the book, and I am utterly in love with him. I need more of this character ASAP. I already know that he is in the second installment, and I need it immediately because the way the first book ended with him! Lordy! Not to mention that I can already see a love triangle in the future, and I also get the distinct impression that he may be the villain! And I do so love me a good villain!
I believe the e-book is only $0.99, and I would defiantly recommend you snag it at this price.
