* Top Ten Tuesdays (TTT) is a weekly event hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. * * This week's TTT is: Top Ten Books You Had a Hard Time Getting into, or a Similar Topic. I had a hard time thinking of some books I had a hard time getting into so I decided to switch it up a little. So here's my Top Ten Books I Thought I Would Dislike but Ended Up Really Enjoying.

Historical Romance
I didn't think that I would like this genre. I thought it would be full of sex and full of relationships that were male biased. Boy was I wrong. The two that I've read so far have been wonderful and a lot of fun to read! I'm definitely going to be checking out more in this genre.
A Court of Mist & Fury
This may be a surprise. I didn't know if I wanted to continue with this series and I didn't think I was going to like this book but surprise, I ended up loving it!
The Girl in 6E
The reviews I had heard about this book, with the explicit content made me hesitant and had me thinking that I wouldn't like it. But! I ended up really liking this book, it was totally different than I thought it would be and to be honest, I'm excited to read the next two books in the series.
Swear on This Life
I haven't had a good run with most New Adult books so I was really hesitant about this one. I ended up really loving this book. It was so much more than I thought it would be.
738 Days
This is another New Adult book that I didn't think I would like, but I ended up really enjoying this book and seeing the characters develop and grow together as the book went on.
The Raven Cycle
I read The Raven Boys a few years ago and I didn't like it. But when I re-read it and continued on with the series, I ended up really falling for the characters.
A Little Life
This is a huge book and one I had heard was devastating. I didn't think I would like it. But this story packs a huge punch and it left me thinking about the characters while I wasn't reading and even for days after I finished this book.
The Jewel
I had picked this up and thought it would be the same as other dystopians I had read. It may have had some similar features, but this book was so addictive that I couldn't stop reading it and immediately wanted to read the second one.
Gone Girl
This is one book that I had a hard time getting into. I even almost def-d it but I decided to keep reading and I'm glad I did. This book is unlike anything I've read and it got me hooked on thrillers.
Just One Day
I wasn't sure about Gayle Forman but, I hadn't previously liked the book I read by her. I'm so happy I still picked this book up because it has become one of my all time favorite books.
I wasn't sure about historical fiction as a whole, but I read a Julie Berry book, and saw that they were not like my history text books at all. When I started The Raven Boys, I found the storytelling odd, but as I kept reading, I acclimated, and ended up falling in love with Stiefvater's writing. I thought I would hate Gone Girl, because I usually have to like the characters to get into a book, and there are NO likable characters in that book, but the story was like watching a train wreck, and I just couldn't look away.
ReplyDeleteOoh nice! Mostly new to me ones except for ACOMAF! Glad they ended up being winners!

A Little Life is a book I have in my TBR, a book I've resolved to read this year. I'm happy to hear your recommendation for it.

It's nice to hear that you liked The Raven Cycle. I struggled with The Raven Boys, so I haven't bothered to read the sequel.
