Two rival football players begin a game with higher stakes than the Super Bowl in this steamy romance from the author of Illegal Contact.
Simeon Boudreaux, the New York Barons’ golden-armed quarterback, is blessed with irresistible New Orleans charm and a face to melt your mama’s heart. He’s universally adored by fans and the media. Coming out as gay in solidarity with his teammate hasn’t harmed his reputation in the least—except for some social media taunting from rival linebacker Adrián Bravo.
Though they were once teammates, Adrián views Simeon as a traitor and the number-one name on the New Jersey Predators’ shit list. When animosity between the two NFL players reaches a boiling point on the field, culminating in a dirty fist fight, they’re both benched for six games and sentenced to joint community service teaching sullen, Brooklyn teens how to play ball.
At first, they can barely stand to be in the same room, but running the camp forces them to shape up. With no choice but to work together, Simeon realizes Adrián is more than his alpha-jerk persona, and Adrián begins to question why he’s always had such strong feelings for the gorgeous QB.

Down by Contact can be read as a standalone, but I don't suggest it. There is a back-story that is pretty relevant in this book and you will read about it in book one, Illegal Contact. (Check out my review for Illegal Contact HERE) Down by Contact picks up right after Illegal Contact leaves off.  The Barons are about to start their season and they are determined to kick some ass.  The Baron's gorgeous quarterback, Simeon, has put his scandal behind him and is relieved that his teammates are supportive of him coming out as gay. He was so worried that his career would end after the scandal, but in the end, it all worked out.  Well, that is until their first game with Simeon's former team, The New Jersey Predators. The name is also pretty on point too. They are all a bunch of assholes. They are bitter that Simeon was traded to the Barons. But no one is more bitter and pissed then Puerto Rican native, Adrian Bravo. They used to be tight when they were on the same team, but after Simeon left, Adrian has been turning to social media to criticize Simone and especially now that Simeon has come out.

After an incident on the gridiron, they are suspended and forced to work together in a after-school children's' program. Some of the scenes here are pretty funny.  Kids are kids and they don't hold back. LOL  This is when both Adrian and Simeon find out what really happened after Simeon left and the reason why Adrian hated him for leaving.

I love everything about this series. I love the romance and I adore the characters. Santino's writing is pretty darn fantastic and i love how he brings life to his characters. I became a fan of his after reading Illegal Contact, but now I am an even bigger fan of his and he has become an insta-buyer when it comes to his books.  I want more because I just can't get enough!

I found this picture on Pinterest and he reminded me of Adrian. I mean, look at him!! I am having a hard time picturing Simeon though.  I searched everywhere on online for someone that looked like him, but nothing. But lets take a moment and just admire Adrian. LOL

Hop in the whip grab my keys then I'm outtie ✌️⚡️

Now, please go and add The Barons to your Goodreads, or better yet, go and buy the first book and/or both!!!
