At seventeen years old, Tenley “Ten” Lockwood had to make the ultimate choice—where to live after she died. Loyalty to her selected realm has not wavered…until now. She is out of time. Sacrifices must be made, and a terrible price must be paid. But is she too late? As the Everlife descends into darkness, a single truth becomes clear: Troika and Myriad must unite—or perish. In order to bring sworn enemies together, Ten must enter forbidden territory…and destroy the powerful Prince of Ravens. But there’s only one way inside—bonding with Killian Flynn, a deadly rival who sets her blood aflame. When nothing goes as planned and betrayal leads to the edge of utter defeat, Ten and Killian will have to rebuild trust from the ashes of their hearts. Victory seems impossible, the odds stacked against them. In the end, how far will they be willing to go for the sake of their realms and the Everlife?
I can honestly say that there have only been a few trilogies
that I have started and have been so excited but so nervous to finish at the
same time. The buildup of emotions in anticipation to what could happen to the
characters I have fallen in love with from the very beginning. So, when it came
to this book I think I nearly screamed…I did scream when I found out that I was
going to be able to get the chance to read this book.
This is the final book where we follow Tenley (Ten) as she
is thrown into a war where sacrifice is a must for both Myriad and Troika to
survive. As she embarks into enemy territory, secrets are revealed and Ten must
look to her friends and family for the light to help her win.
This book was such a fast-paced read. I remember starting
this on my kindle and I just kept reading and swiping and before I knew it, I
was at the end and the story was over. I remember taking this pause just so
that I could take it all in. The adventure, the action, the love, the
sacrifice, the hate, just everything that this book brought was just so brilliantly
crafted and pieced together for this fantasy masterpiece.
The relationship with both Ten and Killian was such a
rollercoaster ride for me but every second spent reading from Killian’s POV
just made me fall further in love with him. Especially that Scottish accent. That
was a selling point for me. I am not going to lie when I say there were moments
where I was on the edge of my seat almost biting my nails thinking, are they
over, please don’t di…wait I don’t want to say that, you will just have to read
to find out that part and whether they make it or not.
The ending was such a nice twist, there may have been some tears
rolling down my face but I will neither confirm nor deny that. Overall, Gena
Showalter has done a marvelous job in creating this series that has captured my
heart. Would I have been able to make a decision on where to spend my second
life, I probably wouldn’t. But that is just me. If you have not read this
trilogy, I am seriously questioning you right now and the reasoning behind why
you have not. But I can honestly just say that this is a series worth reading.
