From acclaimed author Alyssa Cole comes the tale of a city Cinderella and her Prince Charming in disguise . . .
Between grad school and multiple jobs, Naledi Smith doesn’t have time for fairy tales…or patience for the constant e-mails claiming she’s betrothed to an African prince. Sure. Right. Delete! As a former foster kid, she’s learned that the only things she can depend on are herself and the scientific method, and a silly e-mail won’t convince her otherwise.
Prince Thabiso is the sole heir to the throne of Thesolo, shouldering the hopes of his parents and his people. At the top of their list? His marriage. Ever dutiful, he tracks down his missing betrothed. When Naledi mistakes the prince for a pauper, Thabiso can’t resist the chance to experience life—and love—without the burden of his crown.
The chemistry between them is instant and irresistible, and flirty friendship quickly evolves into passionate nights. But when the truth is revealed, can a princess in theory become a princess ever after?

This book is full so many fun tropes that I found myself really falling for it. There's a royalty trope, a disguise, and a little bit of hate to love. There is so much to love in this book that I can't recommend it enough.
I loved the characters! I loved how independent Naledi is. I love that she is an African-American woman of science! I couldn't help but wanting to cheer for her throughout every part of this book. She's humble, hard-working, a bit headstrong, open and so intelligent. I enjoyed getting to know Prince Thabiso. I have to admit, I was a little unsure in the beginning, but he definitely grew on me. It was nice to see him really take in the things that Naledi would tell him. I really loved seeing him in his role and seeing how compassionate he was.
I really enjoyed the writing as well. I loved that Cole added in some aspects that applied to real life, but she did it seamlessly. I felt like there was a solid plot as well as a romance, but neither overtook the other. It was the ideal amount of plot and romance to me. The story was always surprising me. I didn't expect a little bit of a mystery element, but I really loved that side plot.
Overall I loved everything about this story, the writing, characters, story, all of it! I definitely want to check out more of Alyssa Cole's work and also the next book in the series, that follows one of the side characters. If you're looking for a great romance story with a solid plot and fantastic characters, then this is right up your alley. Also, if you enjoy a royalty trope, this is perfect!
