Top Ten Tuesday: Words Frequently Used in YA Fantasy Titles

Top Ten Tuesdays (TTT) is a weekly event now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week's TTT is: Frequently Used Words in [Insert Genre/Age Group] Titles

For this one I chose to list the frequent words used in Young Adult Fantasy titles. I had a lot of fun browsing through lists - there was one or two surprise words, and some others I thought would be easy, but ended up having a harder time finding titles.

The Girl of Fire and Thorns, Fire, City of Heavenly Fire

Shadow and Bone, Children of Blood and Bone, Daughter of Smoke and Bone

Three Dark Crowns, Crown of Midnight

Wild Magic, A Darker Shade of Magic

An Ember in the Ashes, Snow Like Ashes

The Star-Touched Queen, Red Queen, The Imposter Queen

Court of Fives, A Court of Mist & Fury

Crooked Kingdom, To Kill a Kingdom

The Winner's Kiss, The Kiss of Deception

Daughter of a Pirate King, The Demon King

  4. Surprisingly, fire didn't show up on a lot of the other YA lists. But crown, queen, kiss, and kingdom are everywhere! LOL. Great list.

  5. I think these all made the YA list-as they are pretty frequent!! I have Kiss on my list too-but mine is romance-LOL

  6. Since I mostly read fantasy books my list too pretty much turned out to be a fantasy list and not surprisingly we have pretty much all the same words this week haha
