Top Ten Tuesday: Popular Books That Lived Up to the Hype

Top Ten Tuesdays (TTT) is a weekly event now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week's TTT is: Popular books that lived up to the hype.
I can find myself straying away from hyped books because I get nervous that I'll read them and not like them. It can take me so long to pick up a hyped book, because I sometimes wait until the hype has died down. But with these books, I wish I wouldn't have waited because it would have been fun to join in all the book talk!

Series that lived up to the hype
These series all were brilliant to me. I wish I had jumped on the train sooner but, at the same time, holding off made it so that I could binge read the whole series.

Series that I've read the first one, but not the rest.. yet
These series were hyped up so I read the first and loved it! But when it comes to reading the others, I'm nervous I won't love them as much as the first one. (Do you see any I should definitely continue on with? I know Crooked Kingdom is a given!)

Contemporaries
There are so many hyped contemporaries and I get so nervous I won't like them because i don't read much contemporary. But! I end up liking them more than not. These I looooved!

  2. I liked Grave Mercy a lot. I need to read the rest of those- and I did like the Taylor Jenkins Reid book I read.

  3. Nice! I loved Six of Crows as well! Seeing a lot of that one today, I chose another Bardugo book though! I too need to get caught up with The Diviners series as well! So many books so little time! Great picks!

  4. I know how you feel about hype avoiding hype. I'm the same way, and like you, I enjoy binge reading entire series. I did that for The Lunar Chronicles. I'd really like to read Six of Crows, but haven't gotten to it yet. Here is my Top Ten Tuesday.

  6. Hype always scares me away from books. That’s why I don’t read many of them. I loved Simon, though. That one lived up to the hype for me.

  7. I don't mind reading popular books (maybe that's an unpopular opinion, I don't know). I haven't read any of the above yet, but I would like to read Six of Crows. As I still have 12 books on hold at the library and several books that I have bought that I need to read, it may be a while before I get to it.
