He’s been a bad, bad rake—and it takes a governess to teach him a lesson

The accidental governess.

After her livelihood slips through her fingers, Alexandra Mountbatten takes on an impossible post: transforming a pair of wild orphans into proper young ladies. However, the girls don’t need discipline. They need a loving home. Try telling that to their guardian, Chase Reynaud: duke’s heir in the streets and devil in the sheets. The ladies of London have tried—and failed—to make him settle down. Somehow, Alexandra must reach his heart... without risking her own.

The infamous rake.

Like any self-respecting libertine, Chase lives by one rule: no attachments. When a stubborn little governess tries to reform him, he decides to give her an education—in pleasure. That should prove he can’t be tamed. But Alexandra is more than he bargained for: clever, perceptive, passionate. She refuses to see him as a lost cause. Soon the walls around Chase’s heart are crumbling... and he’s in danger of falling, hard.
I loved The Duchess Deal and was so excited when I found out that Alex would be getting her own story with the guy she ran into. I really liked The Governess Game but it didn't beat out my love for The Duchess Deal. I know many people feel differently and that's okay, we all have different opinions on characters and that's the beauty of story-telling, how we can all either love or like or not.
The encounters when the main characters meet is extremely important to me and how Alex and Chase met the second time was so cute. Alex fixes clock and when she goes to her next appointment she sees Chase again. She thinks she is going to fix one of their clocks and Chase thinks she is there for the governess job. Sadly she says no but then she goes back and accepts the job.
Chase wasn't as rakish as I thought he would be and I was extremely happy about it, yes he likes to have fun and drink but there was only instance where he had a woman over and after that we don't see anyone else. Also Chase would close himself off to his nieces and slowly he started to change that with the help of Alex.
Alex was so adorable, she won over the nieces with her storytelling of pirates and adventures and the way she handle herself with them and Chase was real and honorable. She spoke her thoughts to him and the girls and always told Chase that he should fix this or that with his family and I appreciated Tessa Dare writing family scenes because family is everything to me.
The chemistry between Alex and Chase was undeniable; Tessa Dare always manages to make her sexy scenes even hotter than before and I am all for this, please don't ever stop, ha.
The Governess Game was a fun and fast paced read that made me remember I need to read way more historical romances.
