Top Ten Tuesday: Authors I'd Love to Meet

Top Ten Tuesdays (TTT) is a weekly event now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week's TTT is: Authors I'd Love to Meet.
There are quite a few authors that I would love to meet! It was a little hard to narrow down this list, and some authors I would have put are ones that I have already met (like Tahereh Mafi, and Leigh Bardugo). I also included some authors that are no longer here, but I would still love to meet.

Kate Quinn
Books: The Empress of Rome series, The Borgias series, The Alice Network, and more
One of my all time favorite series is The Empress of Rome series. I know I have listed it on my top ten lists probably too many times. I would love to talk to Kate Quinn about what she's writing next, how she found the idea for these and what books she loved that are set in the same time period.

Victoria Schwab/V.E. Schwab
Books: so many! The Darkest Shades of Magic series, Monsters of Verity series, The Archived series and more
I would love to hear Victoria Schwab talk about anything. Anything at all. She is so eloquent, wonderful and full of wit.

Taylor Jenkins Reid
Books: Maybe in Another Life, One True Loves, After I Do, Forever Interupted, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, and more
Every book I have read by Taylor Jenkins Reid is so good. She writes in such a way that makes you think deeply. Her characters are always so realistic as well. I would love to hear her talk about her books and how she does it.

Morgan Matson
Books: Save the Date, Since You've Been Gone, Second Chance Summer, Amy and Roger's Epic Detour, The Unexpected Everything and more. She also writes under Katie Finn
Morgan Matson is probably my favorite young adult contemporary author. Not only does she write wonderful stories, but she also is a pretty cool person. I'd love to talk books, or anything, really with her.

Louise Erdrich
Books: Tracks, Love Medicine, Future Home of the Living God, The Round House, and so many more
Louise Erdrich is brilliant. I'm rather intimidated because she's just such an incredible woman. I would listen to anything she wants to talk about.

Ayobami Adebayo
Books: Stay with Me, Spent Lives
Stay with Me is another book that I have included on many of my top ten lists. It's an all time favorite of mine. I would love to gush to Ayobami Adebayo about how much I loved her book and hear books that she has loved - and hopefully, hear about another book coming out soon.

Jane Austen
Books: Persuasion, Pride & Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, Emma, Mansfield Park, Northanger Abbey, and more
I feel like this one is self explanatory. Jane Austen was ahead of her time and her stories are so timeless. I would love to sit and listen to her talk about anything and everything.

Edgar Allen Poe
Works: The Tell-Tale Heart, Annabel Lee, The Raven and so many, many more
I have had a fascination with Edgar Allen Poe for so many years. I love his writing style, I love the gothic settings that he uses. I would love to hear where his inspiration came from, more about his life and any tales that he had that weren't made into stories or poems.

James Baldwin
Books: Another Country, If Beale Street Could Talk, Sonny's Blues (short story), and more
James Baldwin is a brilliant man and a wonderful writer. He writes with such complexity, beauty and this rawness that just draws me in. I read Sonny's Blues in high school and it's been stuck with me ever since. I would love to hear James Baldwin talk about his life, his stories, what books he loves, and whatever he would want to divulge to me.

Flannery O'Connor
Works: Short stories - A Good Man is Hard to Find, Everything That Rises Must Converge, and many more.
Flannery O'Connor wrote another short story that has stuck with me since high school. She writes dark southern gothic stories. There is so much depth to her stories, so much to discover beyond what is written that I would love to hear her dive into some of the themes in her stories.

  1. Nice list! Not familiar with all of these! Hope you're able to meet some of these authors one day!
