The first half of 2018 was a bit rough. After having two miscarriages and my father-in-law passing away, summer brought much needed good times. My husband and I went away on a beach vacation, and we took our kiddos on a family cabin trip where we all had a blast. This fall and beginning of winter I haven't read much, but I did complete my goodreads goal! There's a reason for not much reading, I wasn't feeling well because I'm currently expecting, not one, but two rainbow babies, arriving this spring. Here's to 2019 filled with adventure and rainbows!
One
Okay, okay, I am cheating a little bit here since I'm listing 3 books BUT they are all a part of The Empress of Rome series. I fell head over heels for this series - like completely addicted and couldn't get enough. I read this series last January and I am still thinking about it, and hunting for something that can bring me the same excitement as I had reading these books.
Two
I completely adored this book. It's filled with all things I love, adventure, romance, and great character development. Also, a unique world and I really enjoyed the setting as this story takes place at sea.
Three
I'm a little surprised to add a thriller to my top five list. I enjoy thrillers but they don't often stick with me all year. This one, did. It didn't just have an interesting story and suspenseful tale, but I liked the way that it pointed out mom-shaming and encounter/address common troubles that moms have.
Four
This book was such a fun ride. I loved getting to know the characters and seeing how all their storylines intertwine. The ending wrapped it all up and made me like the book even more. I have found a new love for historical fiction in 2018 and I hope to continue finding great reads like this one!
Five
I have to admit, this book didn't completely blow me away when I read it. But I appreciated so much about this book. I loved the writing, and the style. I loved the characters and I really enjoyed following them on their journeys through friendship and navigating their lives.
What was one of your top reads of 2018 that you found yourself recommending all the time?
As always, happy reading!
