Top Ten Tuesday: Places Mentioned in Books That I'd Like to Visit

Top Ten Tuesdays (TTT) is a weekly event now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week's TTT is: Places Mentioned in Books That I'd Like to Visit
One of my favorite parts of a story is setting, especially when the setting sounds like a place that I would like to visit. There are so many books that involve travel or different worlds that left me wanting to visit all the places the characters get to see.  Here's a few places I would love to visit...

Diagon Alley & Hogsmeade
from the Harry Potter series
This was a given.. what an amazing place to shop around and visit.

Velaris, City of Starlight
from A Court of Mist & Fury
A city of starlight.. yes please. Not only that, but anytime the city was described, it felt like a lovely home.

The Shire
from The Hobbit
This town sounds delightful and the characters that hang there do too.

the 1920's
from The Great Gatsby and other books alike
I have a fascination with the 1920's. Flappers, jazz music, dancing, excitement, what a time to see!

Furthermore
from Furthermore
I love whimsical worlds and this one totally fits the bill. Though a bit dangerous, (I think I should have a guide) I would still be so interested in visiting.

Edgewood
from The Edgewood Chronicles
Another whimsical world, and another one I would need a guide for, as things can get a bit dangerous.

An 18th Century Ball
from Pride & Prejudice and other Jane Austen works
Every time I read an Austen novel or other similar setting where a ball takes place, I'm wishing I could experience one and see what it was like.

Paris
from Me Before You
The scene that Will describes in Paris had me wanting to try a warm croissant at a Paris cafe, followed by exploring the city.

Somewhere beach-y
from The Island and other island/beach settings
Every time I read a book with a beach setting, my constant wish to visit the beach re-surfaces.

  1. I would definitely need to go to the Shire if it was real! And Paris is a place I hope to get to!

  6. The 1920s would be fun to visit (but probably not to live). An 18th century ball might be fun too.
