This was different. This was a book that I randomly walked by at the library, saw the word library and books and immediately was drawn to it. I do not know what vibe I was currently getting from the book but I was excited to jump in and see where the adventure took me. 

Following Alex who is thrown into the sudden role of convincing the young queen of the Winter Palace that he is indeed a librarian. He must not convince not just her but himself as well himself of his knowledge and strength if he has any hopes of finding the darkness hidden in the depths of the library before all is lost. 

Alex is stubborn, he is young, but he is also adventurous, ambitious and goal driven. I felt that I could do with a little more character development as things somewhat felt rushed with his character and the plot line. There was some sort of character development with the young queen, Kenneret. She starts off  being timid but with the right motivation she becomes a queen.

I did find the overall story interesting. There were different twists and turns with the story and many exciting elements that held my interest but it still felt short. Sarah Prineas wrote an enjoyable novel that I feel tweens will enjoy to read as they find the magic that exists in the library.
