On Reading Slumps - Tips And Tricks To Get Out Of A Reading Slump

Hello again!

I think it's safe to say that all of us, as readers, have had at least one reading slump.
(If you can't relate, tell me your tips and tricks!)
I've had my fair share of them. When I'm in one, I have a handful of things I do to try to break out of the slump. A few of these recently helped me, so I thought I'd share some tips and tricks that I use to help break out of a slump.

Pick up a book by a favorite author
This could be a re-read or a new/backlist book by a favorite author.

Get a recommendation just for you
It may be worth talking to a librarian or bookseller or friend to get a recommendation that is tailored to your tastes. Also, talking books is, for me, a good motivator for my reading life.

Listen to/Watch people talk about books
This could be YouTube (booktube), podcasts, instagram, blogs, anything where people are talking about books. For me, podcasts are the best motivator. I get so excited to pick up a book after listening to people talk about and recommend books.

Grab a stack of books and read a chapter of each until you don't want to stop reading one
I love this method; it's one of my favorite ones to do. I sit down with a stack of books and read a chapter until I want to keep reading or go back to a book I can't stop thinking about what will come next. Sometimes I have to grab a new stack. Sometimes there's two books pulling at my attention. But it is successful to get me reading.

Surround yourself with books
If you can, go to a library or bookstore and just browse. Look around. Read some book flaps, read a few first lines. Just let yourself be surrounded by books. When I get the chance to do this, I feel re-centered and in love with books all over again.

I would love to hear your tip and tricks if you have any!
As always, Happy Reading!
